How can AI help supply chains keep pace with the speed of quick commerce while staying resilient and viable? This question was at the heart of the Industry Panel Discussion & Research Study Presentation on “Supply Chain Resilience and Viability for the Q-Commerce Age: Role of AI” held at IIT Madras. As a leading provider of integrated supply chain and logistics solutions, ProConnect collaborated with IIT Madras to bring together industry leaders, academicians, and practitioners to explore the transformative role of AI in shaping the future of supply chains. The event featured invited talks by Prof. Mohan Gopalakrishnan, R. Srinivasan International Visiting Chair Professor, IIT Madras, on AI in Quick Commerce, and Prof. Arshinder Kaur on AI for logistics and supply chain excellence, along with a research presentation by Mr. Sujan Mondal on building resilient and viable supply chains. The panel discussion brought together Mr. Rohan Chakraborty, Senior Vice President, Zepto; Mr. Amit Mande, Vice President & Head - National Account Management, Blue Dart; Mr. Naval Sabharwal, Independent Consultant; Mr. Hariharan Vishnampet Sethuraman, Group CEO, Redington Limited; and Prof. Mohan Gopalakrishnan, with Prof. Arshinder Kaur, Professor, Department of Management Studies, IIT Madras, moderating the session. The conversations highlighted how AI is redefining logistics, operational decision-making, and supply chain resilience in an increasingly dynamic Q-Commerce ecosystem. Vi ion The Sutherland Scholar hip Programme envi ion a future where financial limitation never prevent talented learner from acce ing quality education. By inve ting in de erving tudent , the initiative i nurturing future profe ional , innovator , and leader who will contribute to India' growing knowledge economy. The Initiative Through it CSR upport, Sutherland ha partnered with IIT Madra to provide cholar hip for tudent enrolled in the BS Degree Programme. The cholar hip i offered to Indian tudent from familie with an annual income below ₹5 lakh , enabling them to pur ue Foundation-level cour e without financial hard hip. By reducing the co t of education, the initiative empower tudent to focu on academic excellence while creating equitable acce to one of India' premier educational programme . Impact Since it launch, the programme ha upported 148 tudent , including 92 women and 56 men , acro India. With an inve tment of ₹50 lakh , the initiative ha enabled tudent to complete 1,184 cour e , with over ₹47.36 lakh already utili ed toward cholar hip . Beneficiarie repre ent diver e tate acro the country, demon trating the national reach of the IIT Madra BS programme. The cholar hip ha al o upported trong academic performance, with the majority of tudent maintaining CGPA above 7.0. Beneficiarie The programme primarily upport tudent from economically weaker and lower-middle-income familie , including children of grocery tore owner , mall bu ine owner , army per onnel, homemaker , and daily wage earner . For many recipient , the cholar hip ha reduced financial tre , enabled uninterrupted learning, and allowed them to concentrate on their tudie rather than educational expen e . Herbalife Scholar hip Programme Supporting Dream Through Inclu ive Higher Education A cholar hip initiative helping financially di advantaged tudent pur ue the IIT Madra BS Degree Programme with confidence and continuity. Many come from farming familie , daily-wage hou ehold , mall bu ine e , or ingle-income familie where the co t of higher education can delay or even prevent academic progre . En uring that the e learner receive financial upport i e ential to making quality education truly inclu ive. Vi ion The Herbalife Scholar hip Programme eek to create an inclu ive learning environment where every de erving tudent ha the opportunity to pur ue quality higher education, regardle of economic background. Beyond Chennai, the methodologie , technologie and intervention developed through the project can erve a a calable model for improving public tran port afety acro India. The Initiative Supported by Renault Ni an Technology & Bu ine Centre India (RNTBCI), IIT Madra launched a comprehen ive re earch programme to under tand and reduce accident involving Chennai' Metropolitan Tran port Corporation (MTC) bu e . The project combine large- cale accident analytic , driver health and behavioural a e ment , phy iological en ing, driving imulation and in-vehicle data collection to identify the factor influencing cra h ri k. By integrating hi torical accident record with real-time behavioural data, the initiative aim to develop practical intervention that improve public tran port afety. Driving Safer Mobility Through Re earch The project adopt a multidi ciplinary approach that bring together tran portation engineering, behavioural cience, artificial intelligence and human factor re earch. Key component include: Analy i of over five year of MTC accident record Randomly elected cohort of 600 bu driver for behavioural and health a e ment Driver urvey covering phy ical, p ychological and workplace factor Driving imulator experiment to evaluate ri k cenario Advanced en ing technologie including ECG, GSR, camera , accelerometer and gyro cope for real-world driver monitoring Data-driven model to recommend targeted afety intervention Extending Innovation Beyond Re earch To complement the re earch programme, IIT Madra launched Hack-cident , a nationwide innovation challenge inviting tudent , re earcher and indu try profe ional to develop calable road afety olution . The competition attracted 312 regi tered team , with promi ing idea progre ing through multiple evaluation round . The be t team received funding to prototype and implement practical olution capable of improving road afety in real-world environment . Traditional enforcement method often truggle to provide continuou monitoring or generate actionable data, highlighting the need for technology-enabled intervention that improve road afety while upporting evidence-ba ed traffic management. Vi ion The initiative envi ion creating a calable model for mart road afety that combine engineering, artificial intelligence, and urban planning to reduce accident and improve mobility in Indian citie . By generating real-world evidence on the effectivene of technology-enabled intervention , IIT Madra aim to develop replicable framework that can upport afer, marter, and more u tainable tran portation y tem acro the country. The intervention have been continuou ly refined through field a e ment and clo e coordination with BBMP, NHAI, and traffic police authoritie to en ure they addre evolving on-ground condition . Technology Driving Safer Mobility The project integrate intelligent urveillance with infra tructure improvement to addre multiple road afety challenge . AI-powered camera y tem monitor peeding, lane violation , ignal jumping, parking violation , and pede trian movement, while rede igned junction , lane egregation, pede trian cro ing , Pelican ignal , and VMS board improve driver behaviour and pede trian afety. Rather than relying olely on enforcement, the initiative create a data-driven eco y tem that enable continuou monitoring, evidence-ba ed deci ion-making, and calable deployment acro urban road network . Implementation Progre Pha e I ha ucce fully deployed urveillance infra tructure acro key location on both OMR and Airport Road, with camera , edge device , and upporting equipment in talled at major junction and high-ri k tretche . Road marking de ign , vendor finali ation, and implementation planning have al o been completed, with Pha e II focu ing on Pelican pede trian ignal , VMS board , lane marking , and additional intelligent traffic infra tructure. Once in tallation are complete, the project will undertake before-and-after data collection and analy i to quantitatively mea ure improvement in traffic compliance and road afety outcome . The Initiative IIT Madra , in partner hip with Daimler , i developing a Commercial Driver Rating Sy tem (CDRS) a fir t-of-it -kind digital platform that u e martphone data, vehicle en or , behavioural analytic , and artificial intelligence to objectively a e commercial driving performance. By combining real-world driving data with advanced modelling technique , the project aim to create a tran parent, tandardized driver rating framework that can be adopted acro the commercial tran port eco y tem. The initiative al o eek to e tabli h a Digital Public Infra tructure (DPI) compri ing national data tandard , ecure data management, and interoperable technology for large- cale implementation. Innovation The project goe beyond traditional fleet monitoring by integrating behavioural cience, en or technologie , and data analytic to under tand the multiple factor that influence driving performance. It will define tandardized Driver Performance Indicator (DPI ), develop a comprehen ive driver rating core, and create a national databa e of commercial driving behaviour. The re ulting platform ha the potential to become a tru ted benchmark for commercial licen ing, in urance a e ment, recruitment, fleet management, and evidence-ba ed policymaking. Building Future Innovator Over two year , the programme reached more than 1,200 tudent acro 10 government chool , guiding them through progre ively advanced engineering concept . Student explored the inner working of common device uch a binocular , tetho cope , weighing cale , electric iron , and hair dryer while learning to de ign and manufacture their own model u ing indu try- tandard 3D printing tool . The initiative al o trengthened u tainability through a "Train the Trainer" programme at IIT Madra , equipping educator with the kill to deliver hand -on STEM education independently.
