Design & development of dynamic wireless charging systems for roadway powered electric vehicles
Principal Investigator
Prof. Deepak Ronanki
Objective
- The main objective of this project is to design and develop dynamic wireless charging systems for roadway-powered electric vehicles (EVs).
Description
- One of the major limitations of the wide adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) is the lack of charging infrastructure that can seamlessly pump energy to high-desnity battery systems, The conventional charging method for EVs is plugging plugging the power cable into the onboard charger or offboard charger which requires proper precautions to handle the heavy-gauge cables and deal with tripping hazards, Alternatively, wireless charging of EVs will help reduce cord clutter and enable safer charging, which is completely sealed and can operate during adverse weather conditions.
Impact
- The technology outcome from this project proposal will be pivotal for future e-transportation and energy sectors, which can change the scenario of the country towards a zero-carbon footprint and provide safe and convenient transportation.
