Objective
- Utilize textile waste in prosthetic sockets & leg components as a sustainable & cost-effective alternative to conventional materials. This approach promotes circular economy and supports indigenous innovation in rehabilitation engineering.
Description
- Affordable prosthetic sockets and leg components will be developed from post-industrial and post-consumer textile waste, addressing both textile waste management and access to assistive healthcare technologies. Recycled textile composites offer lightweight structures, improved comfort, good shock absorption and adequate mechanical strength at significantly lower manufacturing cost than conventional materials.
