Plastic Waste to Fuel CSR: Decentralised Zero Emission Pyrolysis System

Decentralized Plastic Pyrolysis Intelligence System

Decentralized Plastic Pyrolysis Intelligence System

Principal Investigator

Prof. Indumathi Manivannan Nambi

Objective

  • The main objective of the current proposal is to modify, design, fabricate, install and commission the pyrolyzer, burner and modifications in the flue gases recirculation path for 500 kg per day plant for the conversion of non-recyclable waste to fuel.

Description

  • IITMadras team founded Samudhyoga Waste Chakra (SWC) Pvt. Ltd a startup which proposes an alternative solution Decentralised Zero emission Plastic Pyrolyser (DZEPP) to treat waste plastic at the block / ward level. Plastics collected from the nearby communities can be brought to a centralized town in the block and pyrolyzed with zero emission and creation of value-added product fuel oil which can be used in diesel generators, tractors, or local industries.

Impact

  • We propose to redesign and fabricate a new reactor which is the core of the pyrolysis plant. We have come up with a new conceptual design. We seek funding to realize our dream, which is a successful model for a Decentralised Zero emission Plastic Pyrolyser which will be the first of its kind in India.
